Many people still choose innerspring over other types for several key advantages:

• Durability: They are known for their durability and longevity. They often last for many years with proper care.
• Support: The coil system provides excellent support for the body. They maintain proper alignment and reduce pressure points.
• Breathability: They tend to be more breathable than other mattress types. The construction allows for better airflow and temperature regulation.

But, like all types, these mattresses come with their disadvantages too:

• Motion transfer: They can transfer motion. This could be an issue for couples or light sleepers.

• Noise: The coils sometimes make noise when shifting.

Some sleep positions may be more suitable than others:

• Side sleepers: The best innerspring mattress for side sleepers has the right level of support and cushioning. Pocketed coils can be a good choice for side sleepers. • Stomach sleepers: While innerspring can work for stomach sleepers, a firmer option may be preferable.

Traditional innerspring mattresses typically feature a continuous coil system. The springs are connected in a single unit. This design leads to more motion transfer. Movement in one area can easily affect the rest of the mattress.

Modern innersprings have pocketed coil technology. Each spring is individually wrapped in a fabric pocket. This design helps to isolate motion. They also usually include layers of memory foam, latex, or other materials to improve comfort.

Many modern mattresses are designed to be used one-sided. It's still a good practice to rotate your mattress every three months. Some manufacturers may have specific guidelines for flipping or rotating. Be sure to check the care instructions.

The lifespan of a mattress can vary. It depends on factors such as its quality, how it's used, and how well it's cared for. Generally, you can expect one to last between 7 and 10 years.
